**RIP-OFF ALERT** The
"STS
Unlimited" calling
card...watch out for these guys. You'll get terrible
connections and since you'll spend more than 60 seconds
saying "que?," "what?," and "que dice?" they won't give you
credit for the lousy call. I spent $10 for a few seconds of
talk time on their so-called "unlimited" card before being
disconnected. The only thing "unlimited" about this STS
card is the unlimited amount of your time wasted on hold to
their customer support number. When you finally get them
after three hours and forty five minutes, it is more like
"customer abuse" than support. They will spend half an hour
trying to convince you that it is your problem or your
phone. They will be rude to you, insult you
and then hang up on you but they will NEVER
give you credit. On another occasion I called, it
sounded like I woke a guy up out of bed and he could barely
talk past his yawning. Oddly they say they guarantee their
calls...not true at all. When I was told about the
guarantee, I asked for credit but was refused citing that
the guarantee does not mean credit. What the hell is a
guarantee good for then? I still don't know and they won't
tell me. "STS "Unlimited,"
a misnomer at best, fraud at worst, usually means
your call will last less than 60 minutes or sometimes a few
seconds as you will be randomly disconnected but you'll
pay the access charge no matter what. After dialing,
you will hear "There is no time limit for this call" but in
fact there is as they will decide what that limit is;
minutes or seconds. When you go to call again, you will
also discover that they have been deducting from the card's
value the longer you talk. If you have had similar problems
and suspect fraud, contact your state's attorney general's
office and the
Federal Trade Commission.
